The Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou announced stricter measures late on Wednesday night, with restrictions to be even harsher in the Limassol and Paphos districts that have developed into the epicentres of the island’s recent pandemic flare-up.

While telcos have largely risen to the challenge of withstanding a surge in network demand during the COVID-19 pandemic, pressure to maintain infrastructure resilience and expand reach emerges as the most pressing sector challenge. This is according to EY report, Top 10 risks in telecommunications 2020, which combines EY industry insights and consumer survey data to shortlist the most urgent threats facing today’s telcos.

Five months have elapsed since the entry into force of the Trademarks (Amending) Law of 2020 (L. 63(I)/2020) and the Trademarks Regulations of 2020 (Κ.Δ.Π. 259/2020), replacing the majority of the previous legal provisions governing trademark protection in Cyprus. The revised legal framework transposes the Trademarks Directive (EU) 2015/2436 and the EU Trademark Regulation (EU) 2017/1001into Cyprus’ national legal order and aims to modernise the trademarks framework in Cyprus.

LEPTOS ESTATES has received the Cyprus Export Services Award from the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nicos Anastasiades, at a special event held in Nicosia on Thursday, 12 November 2020.  The company was recognised for its outstanding performance and efforts towards the opening of new markets and for its contribution to the Cypriot economy.  This is the third time Leptos Estates has received the award. The company was previously awarded in 2012 and 2016 respectively.

The Paphos regional board of tourism is continuing to strengthen the promotion of the area and has prepared an enhanced action plan with a budget of over €480,000, officials said on Tuesday.

The health ministry proceeded with the requisition of four doctors from the private sector in order to help the treatment of COVID-19 patients in hospitals of Larnaca and Famagusta.

The Council of Ministers has agreed to the request from the tourism ministry to continue its mandate of special offers of hotel discounts to permanent residents, the Deputy Minister of Tourism said in a press release on Monday.

President Nicos Anastasiades hinted at further measures to stop the spread of COVID-19 following last weekend’s spike, but the nature and scope of a potential second lockdown remains unknown until his meets with his Cabinet on Wednesday.
